executive coach

“Every famous athlete, every famous performer has somebody who’s a coach. Somebody who can watch what you are doing and say, ‘is that what you really meant? Did you really do that?’ They can give them perspective. The one thing people are never good at is seeing themselves as others see them. A coach really really helps”

Eric Schmidt – Chairman Google

My executive coaching work is underpinned by three pillars which inform what I do.

  1. Scenario planning
Scenarios are one of the most effective ways to think strategically about the future of your business or yourself. I originated the term ‘Personal Scenarios’ in my Masters research which later evolved into ‘Life Scenarios’. Scenarios were pioneered in the cold war by Herman Kahn and used by Shell in the 1970’s to outplay their competition. Today you can use scenarios to ensure you are not surprised by events which will impact on you or your business.
  2. Positive psychology
I’ve studied and worked with Positive Psychology since 2003, helping my clients to identify their talents and to work with them to be more effective. If there are development areas then we’ll address them from a perspective of using your strengths to develop the areas where you need additional competence.
  3. Rational thinking
We all suffer from numerous biases that impact on how we think about our lives and our businesses. Helping you to identify your mental traps and to discover ways to overcome them allow you more chance of success with your strategies.

“Connecting with Dale during coaching has allowed me to discover some very powerful skills and insights, at my own pace and in a non formulaic approach.

Like many entrepreneurs I have strong opinions and find myself successful in many areas, but often blocked in others. The reality is that Dale has helped me unblock and rethink those situations, to create new successful pathways forward. It’s not about being correct and incorrect, but about a lateral view on a situation that often creates forward motion in my life and those around me.

Together with this is his ability to provide a consistent reminder for balance. Not just from theory and books, but from real world experience.I was skeptical when I started connecting with Dale and I was unsure of the ability of someone unconnected with my business, to find solutions and create pathways to success. But soon I realised that a great deal of progress was being created and shaped, by the time we spent together.I would highly recommend that anyone who is looking to find a clearer perspective on life, or to simply strengthen their abilities as a leader, connect with Dale.On a personal side, I find his quiet wisdom and easy manor a pleasure to interact with.”
